Every year Lizard Peninsula Holiday Cottages supports a local charity or community group with its Visitor Payback Scheme. We started doing this back in 2006. Its a simple concept whereby for every short break & weekly booking we receive we donate ?5. For a two week booking we donate ?10. Our chosen project for our 2012 Visitor Payback scheme was Coverack Space 2000. CS2000 was initially established more than 10 years ago to fund the extra classroom space in Coverack Primary School.
Since that time the group has continued to run events and activities to benefit the whole community. Coverack is now well known for its wide range of community events and activities that go on through out the year. The projects aim is to provide a wide range of experiences for both visitors and locals in this remote location.
Guided walks, beach activities, craft workshops, and theatre workshops and productions.
First Aid training and qualifications and Dementia Awareness training for adults.
Regular art courses, run by Sue Lewington and now a Lizard Peninsula Wild Flower course.
Community events such as; Coveracks Easter Fun Run, village Bonfire Night celebrations and the lantern procession at Coverack Christmas Tree Night, have become part of Coveracks calendar of events.
Projects set up and funded by CS2000 include...
The village community website www.coverack.org.uk
Online access available in The Wave caf? through CS2000 laptops
The production of Coveracks Whats On guide - produced twice a year.
Yesterday saw the fulfillment of our 2012 Visitor Payback Scheme when Alison McGregor Founder of, and Angela Fryer, Executive Housekeeper at Lizard Peninsula Holiday Cottages presented a cheque for ?875 to Joan Kearsley, Chair of Coverack Space 2000 committee and Caroline Beadle Coverack Space 2000 events coordinator. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who made this gesture possible.
